Our Mission

We have a simple mission:

To help ensure that everyone has access to those services that enable them to live with dignity, pride and companionship within the Rylstone District. community.

With the help of our incredible volunteers, support agencies and community partners we aim to reduce and hopefully eliminate all types of social isolation within the Rylstone District.

Our History

Rylstone District Care & Transport Inc was formed in August 2002 as a result of the amalgamation of Rylstone Community Transport and Kandos Rylstone HACC Service Inc.

In late 2013 the Management Committee of both Rylstone Kandos District Meals on Wheels Association Inc. and Rylstone District Care & Transport Inc commenced negotiations to merge their services. After a lot of hard work this was finalised in late July 2014.

Meals on Wheels had been operating for more than four decades and Community Transport for more than two decades.

The major aims and significance of the merger were to achieve:-

  • Improved client service through a ‘one stop shop’ approach
  • Reduction in duplication of governance and reporting processes
  • Retention and development of staff, volunteer skills and other opportunities
  • Provision of more flexible services to our community
  • Stronger community profile
  • Enhanced future viability of both services

We are extremely proud of the success of the merger and look forward to continuing to develop as a major service provider in the future of the Rylstone District.

Our Organisation

Rylstone District Care & Transport is headed by a voluntary Board who meet once each month.

Our Manager, Kathy Hogan and her small staff work closely with our team of very dedicated volunteers to ensure client needs are professionally met.
